Maury Ginsberg
Lecturer of Acting
Maury has taught at both the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, where he was a core faculty member for over 18 years in the film and television program. Graduates of the conservatory include Kara Young, Jacob Batalon, and others. He has been teaching actors in New York and Los Angeles for more than 25 years. Former students include Jacob Batalon, Ser’Darius Blain, Titus Makin Jr., and others.

As a performer, he has worked professionally for over 35 years in theater, film, and television. Early in his career, he spent three seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where the company included Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, and others, and where he also worked with artists such as Gerald Friedman, Austin Pendleton, and Arthur Miller. He also shared a 30-year creative relationship with the late Olympia Dukakis, performing together in productions of Chekhov, Brecht, and Shakespeare at Williamstown and in theaters around the country.
His stage work includes Off-Broadway and leading regional theaters nationwide, among them Cherry Lane Theatre, The Geffen Playhouse, The Old Globe, South Coast Repertory, Great Lakes Theater, Arizona Theatre Company, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Geva Theatre Center, Cincinnati Playhouse, Pasadena Playhouse, and Pittsburgh Public Theater, among many others.
On screen, his work has placed him alongside Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton, Sigourney Weaver, Samuel L. Jackson, Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi, Ryan Reynolds, and Nathan Fillion, among many others. Recent work includes The Housemaid and a recurring role on Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. Television credits include recurring roles on Manifest, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Jessica Jones, Saint X, and Law & Order, with earlier appearances in such cult classics as Friends and Star Trek: Voyager. He received his B.A. in Drama and Dance from Bard College and studied with the late Sanford Meisner and Larry Moss.
