Bernadette Castro is a theatre and production professional with more than two decades of experience in Stage Management, production leadership, and live performance. A graduate of SUNY Purchase’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film, where she earned her B.F.A. in Design Technology with a concentration in Stage Management, Bernadette brings extensive professional experience and a deep commitment to developing the next generation of theatre artists and production leaders.

More About Me

For more than 20 years, Bernadette worked with Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theatre, ultimately serving as Production Stage Manager, playing a significant role in training and mentoring Stage Management and production personnel, fostering collaborative environments where artists and technicians could do their best work.

In her current role, as Senior Venue Manager at Saint Peter’s Church, Bernadette provides strategic leadership and cultivates dynamic partnerships to support programming and care for the historic building. Working closely with the Arts and Architecture Conservancy to strengthen the operational foundation that sustains not-for-profit arts and community programming. She is passionate about contributing to an organization that values collaboration, hospitality, and thoughtful stewardship—supporting artists, partners, congregants, and the broader community while ensuring this remarkable space remains welcoming, functional, and inspiring.

A Queens native and mother of three young boys, Bernadette is proud to serve and help preserve one of New York’s treasured historic spaces.

She is excited to return to the SUNY Purchase community and contribute her extensive professional experience to an institution that played an important role in shaping her own career.
