What is your motivation to succeed?
My motivation to succeed comes from a deep desire to reach my fullest potential in life so that I can help others along the way. I was fortunate to have a strong upbringing that emphasized the importance of a good education, and the tenacity needed to keep going, even in the face of adversity. I also hope to be an example for my nieces, nephews, and younger family members, showing them what’s possible for their future if they work hard and never give up. Knowing that I can inspire them to pursue their dreams gives me an extra push to keep pushing forward myself!
Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
I’m absolutely in love with live music, and one of my most recent and unforgettable experiences was this past December when I spent Christmas with my aunt in Nevada. We visited Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas, and there were live bands performing all over. The energy was incredible! It was one of the best times I’ve had, and I can’t wait to experience more live performances like that in the future!
What are your long-term goals?
My long-term career goals are focused on continuing my education and eventually pursuing a master’s degree in mental health therapy. I’ve experienced firsthand how life-changing therapy can be, and I want to become a mental health therapist so that I can help others navigate their tough times as well. Additionally, I’m in the process of starting a podcast with a friend, which I’m really excited about! This podcast will be a platform to discuss mental health, personal growth, and other meaningful topics. Lastly, traveling is a huge priority for me, and I hope to see as much of the world as possible while balancing my career and personal goals.
What does EOP/MAP mean to you?
EOP/MAP has made my undergraduate experience one that will be unforgettable! From the support of caring EOP/MAP staff members to the many resources provided to us to ensure our success and more, this program has continuously supported me throughout my entire undergraduate experience and always pushed me to be the best student I can be. Thank you all for all you do for us!
What’s your most invaluable experience at Purchase?
My most invaluable experience at Purchase was the moment I re-enrolled for this semester after taking a longer than expected break. Life presented me with challenges, as it does to all of us, but I knew finishing this part of my education was non-negotiable. I had to do this. When I came back, I was driven by a determination that even surprised me at first. That moment meant everything, as it was the first step toward all the things I want for my future. I’m so grateful I made that decision, especially now that graduation is just around the corner in May! I hope my story inspires others to keep pushing forward, even in tough times. Take a break…take a pause…but always get back on the path toward success and never give up!
