Anthony J. Costello
Born in Pittsburgh and hailing primarily from North Carolina and Tennessee, Anthony Costello is a NYC-based actor and artist from all over the east coast.
Outside of his training at Purchase, Anthony has performed in a number of regional productions in multiple states. He is currently in rehearsal for the world premiere stage-adaptation of James Baldwin’s Giovanni’s Room, directed by Paul Oakley Stovall in which he will be originating the role of Pierre, assistant directing, and understudying the titular character. Double Helix, directed by Scott Schwartz at Bay Street Theater, was the first world premiere that Anthony was a part of- originating the role of Raymond Gosling. Returning to Bay Street the following summer, he was in Terrence McNally’s Master Class directed by Lisa Peterson. Although he carries an extensive foundation in musical theatre, Anthony’s professional experience expands to work on-camera and in Shakespeare as well.
Favorite Purchase Repertory credits include Socrates (Plato), Intimate Apparel (Mr. Marks), Things I Know to Be True (Bob Price), and The Tempest (Ferdinand). He attended UNCSA’s High School Drama Program where he developed an ardor for movement, heightened text, voice, and speech work. He loves the ocean and blue foods.
