Adolfo Monterroso
Lecturer, Tuba
Adolfo Monterroso is one of New York City’s most in-demand young tuba players. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he studied with Earl Mcintyre before entering Dan Peck’s studio at Purchase College, SUNY. Graduating with a BM in 2022, he embarked on graduate studies with Alan Baer at The Juilliard School and graduated with a MM in 2024.
Mr. Monterroso’s musical interests are eclectic; an avid chamber musician and member of Times Square Brass, he has also performed with the New York City Ballet, Second Ending Ensemble, New England Symphonic Ensemble, and the Corbin Jones Big Band at Dizzy’s Club.
In addition to his busy performance and teaching schedule, Mr. Monterroso also enjoys weightlifting, and volleyball, and is an enthusiastic Barista. His musical spiritual home, is the orchestral repertoire of the Late Romantic Era, in particular, the tone poems of Richard Strauss.
