Sun Hee Kil

Assistant Professor, Theatre/Design Technology

Sunny is a New York City–based sound designer for theatre originally from South Korea. A graduate of the College-Conservatory of Music at University of Cincinnati (class of 2009), she holds a MFA in Sound Design. In Korea, she studied BA in Theatre & Film at Hanyang University (class of 1999) and BA in English Language & Literature at Ewha Womans University (class of 2003).

More About Me

Many years of mixing musicals in Seoul, she fell in love with American musicals and came to the US in 2006 to study Sound Design.

Upon graduation of CCM Sound Design, she opened the new Sound Design BFA program at University of Central Oklahoma, and then created the new Sound Design BA program and Audio Engineering minor at SUNY New Paltz.

She associate designed Broadway productions including TONY sound design winner Choir Boy to PyeongChang Opening & Closing Ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Korea. Her sound design credits include Shakespeare in the Park, off Broadway, regional and international theatre productions. Her sound designs were nominated for Henry Hewes  Awards and World Stage Design and selected to exhibit at Prague Quadrennial.

Sunny is a proud member of United Scenic Artists Local 829, Audio Engineering Society and Theatrical Sound Designers & Composers Association.
