Cheyenne Myrie ’17

Cheyenne Myrie CAP® is a philanthropic giving and fundraising specialist who has spent the last ten years working at the intersections of nonprofit arts and culture and social justice.

Myrie is currently the philanthropy coordinator at Open Briefing, an organization that supports individuals, movements, nonprofits, and foundations in navigating complex risk and strengthening the people, relationships, and partnerships that make change possible.

Before that, she was Director of Individual Giving and Special Events at the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre, where she spearheaded major gifts, oversaw the young patron program, and organized donor events, including Signature’s gala.

She also spent two years as the Director of Institutional Advancement at The Theater Offensive, a QTPOC theater organization based in Boston.

Her time at Purchase informed her expertise and paved the way for her career growth through courses,  hands-on experience supporting student productions, and senior project research on the financial models of Black theaters—which earned the Jandon Business of the Arts Award.

In 2025, Myrie completed her MBA at the Quantic School of Business and Technology. She previously completed an MA in Black Theater History and Narratives at NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she received the Clyde Taylor Award for Distinguished Work in African American and Africana Studies.

In May 2026, she became a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, issued by The American College of Financial Services.
