Alfred Hunt

Professor Emeritus of History

Alfred Hunt, professor emeritus of history, is the author of The Influence of Haiti on Antebellum America and numerous scholarly articles. He taught at Purchase for three decades (1976–2007) and served as dean of the College of Letters and Science from 1989 to 1999. Hunt is a two-time Fulbright Scholar and a 2003 recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. 

During his distinguished tenure at Purchase, he created and hosted “Critical Issues,” an award-winning, SUNY-sponsored cable talk show and founded, directed, and taught in study abroad programs in Spain and Italy.
