Margaret Peot

Lecturer of Theatre/Design Technology

Margaret Peot teaches Dyeing for the Theater as part of the Costume Construction II class at Purchase College. Margaret has been a costume painter and dyer for over thirty years. She has worked on many Broadway and tour shows, including The Lion King, Moulin Rouge, Hadestown, Frozen, Wicked, Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Will Rogers Follies and more. Dance costume work includes Peter and the Wolf and Sleeping Beauty for ABT, various Nutcrackers nationwide, and the premier of the new ballet King Arthur at Cincinnati Ballet. She has painted costumes for arena shows, circuses, ice shows and concerts including Marvel Universe Live, Siegfried and Roy Live at the Mirage Hotel, and the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. She is a member of USA 829.

More About Me

Margaret teaches fabric painting at FIT and has taught costume painting and dyeing at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Program, and workshops at BYU, UNC, USITT-SE and Miami University.

As an author, Margaret is represented by Olswanger Literary and has had twelve books published for children and adults, most recently the early reader picture book At Night (Muddy Boots Books, 2021). She is proud to be a featured artisan in the 2019 Routlege Press book Theater Artisans and Their Craft. Margaret serves on the Advisory Board of Miami University’s College of Creative Arts.
