Daniel Kitzman

Tenor Daniel Kitzman is an ardent champion of the creation of relevant and communicative art, bringing deep levels of truth, vulnerability, and magic to the roles and the art he creates. Most recently seen as the Prince in Purchase Opera’s production of Confession, he has also appeared as the title role in Don Giovanni with Purchase Opera, Mayor Upfold in Albert Herring with Opera MODO Detroit, Father Grenville in Dead Man Walking with the University of Michigan Opera, a soldier of the German Army in Silent Night with Michigan Opera Theatre, a founding member of Steve Rush’s U.S. Grant: A Fluxkit Opera premiered at the Indianapolis Fringe Festival, and in concert at Teatro Bramante in Urbania, Castello Brancaleoni in Piobbico, and Teatro Sanzio in Urbino, Italy. Dan will also be singing the Chevalier in Purchase Opera’s upcoming production of The Dialogues of the Carmelites.

 

Dan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance with Teaching Certification and a minor in Design and Production with a Stage Management concentration from the University of Michigan, where he studied with George Shirley. He then received his Master’s degree in Voice and Opera Studies from Purchase College where he studied with Jacque Trussel.
