Joshua Lutz
Associate Professor of Photography
Joshua Lutz is an artist and educator working in photography, and text.
His monographs include Orange Blossom Trail (ImageText Ithaca, 2024), Mind the Gap (Schilt, 2018), Hesitating Beauty(Schilt, 2013), and Meadowlands (Powerhouse, 2008). These works have been recognized as Best Photography Books by Time Magazine, Photo District News, PhotoEye, and others.
Lutz’s work has recently been featured in group exhibitions in the United States, Italy, Denmark, and China. Solo exhibitions of Hesitating Beauty have been presented at Robert Morat Galerie (Berlin), Schilt Gallery (Amsterdam), Blue Sky Gallery (Portland), Robert Koch Gallery (San Francisco), and ClampArt (New York City).
Before his full-time appointment at Purchase College, Lutz taught in the MFA program at Bard College, as well as at the International Center of Photography and Pratt Institute.
