Joshua Lutz

Associate Professor of Photography

Joshua Lutz is an artist and educator working in photography,  and text.

His monographs, which include Hesitating Beauty (2013, Schilt) and Meadowlands (2008, Powerhouse), have been named Best Photography Books by Time Magazine, Photo District News, and PhotoEye, among others. In the Spring of 2018 Lutz’s third monograph Mind The Gap will be released by Schilt Publishing. 

His work has been recently included in group exhibitions in the U.S., Italy, Denmark, and China, with solo exhibitions of Hesitating Beautyat Robert Morat Galerie in Berlin; Schilt Gallery in Amsterdam; Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, Oregon; Robert Koch Gallery in San Francisco; and ClampArt in New York City.

Prior to his full time appointment at Purchase College Lutz served on the faculty of the MFA program at Bard College, the International Center of Photography, and Pratt Institute.
