Jovon Outlaw
Equipment Manager
Jovon Outlaw is the Equipment Manager for the Film and Media Studies department.
A multi-disciplined artist from New York. Mainly focusing on cinematography, directing, and improvising. He is a graduate of the Purchase College Film Conservatory ’14. He has been part of the camera department on projects for CollegeHumor, NBC, Juilliard, Microsoft, Complex, Assembly.com, Josh Ruben, Micheal Almerayda, Celia-Rolwson-Hall, Kassia Miller, Chris Osborn, Eigil Bryld, and Anu Valia. Jovon has worked for a wide range of features, shorts, television, music videos, and digital content. Has worked as Rental Technician for Abel Cine, where he was able to combine his creative love with technical knowledge.
Also, he has immersed in another form of storytelling - Improv. He has studied at both the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater and Reckless Theatre under Matt Dennie, Caroline Martin, Keisha Zollar, Frank Garcia Heji, and Michael Delaney. As well as a recipient of the James Conklin Memorial Scholarship from IO Chicago. Where he has studied under Rance Rizzutto, Gretchen Eng, Matt Higbee, Katie Klein, & Adal Rifai. Improv has strengthened his shooting and directing skills by enabling him to become more flexible and adaptable to new ideas on set while keeping calm under the bright lights.
