Note from Mentor Derick Ansah ‘17

Dear Mentees,

Let me begin by saying thank you to each and every one of you for making my men- toring experience as special and memorable as it’s been. Much like yourselves, I have learned a lot this semester in all aspects of my life, but most importantly, we have all learned more about ourselves. My only advice for all of you moving forward is very simple, but also very important for your success—PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR EX- PERIENCES.

I know that for myself the road to success has been everything other than a straight path. Pay very close attention to the moments that compel you to deviate from your blueprint because that is where you will learn your biggest lessons. Everyone of you has their own story, therefore this is nothing new, but understand that everything be- comes more magnified the closer you get to your dreams. Yet and still, you will all overcome any barriers set to oppress your ascendance to higher platforms in life.

Understand that you control so much more of your life than you’ve been told. You have many resources and the support of so many people at your convenience. Do not be afraid to utilize any of this. Do not be afraid to embrace the process, always here if you need me.
