President’s Award for Classified Service: Nancy Diaz

Congratulations to the longtime C+CS office/business manager for this well-deserved honor.

Her title may be office/business manager, but Nancy Diaz is the glue that holds the Communications+Creative Services office together.

With 25 years of institutional knowledge, Nancy knows how to get things done at Purchase—who to ask, what to do, or where to look. Whether it’s managing department accounts, budgets, payroll, or other projects, the C+CS office would not run smoothly, or at all in some respects, without her knowledge and aptitude.

“Nancy has earned the trust and respect of the campus community through her meticulous attention to detail, clear communication, and dependability,” says Shane Seaman, executive director of marketing and communications.

Nancy is collaborative and collegial, to boot. She jumps in to help without being asked. She’ll always do her best to employ creativity to tackle more challenging requests.

She manages the protocol for receiving and trafficking projects to ensure C+CS stays on track and meets “client’s” deadlines. When C+CS expanded its services to include printing, Nancy learned how to operate the complicated new press and became the resident expert.

And the extra chair in her office is the place to go to seek advice, guidance, or simply to vent. She’s the C+CS moral compass.

An avid seamstress, Nancy used her skills to create masks to donate to Nyack Hospital at the onset of the pandemic.

Congratulations, Nancy, you deserve this acknowledgment. Thanks for your service.
