Fatoumata Fadiga ’24 Named Future Nobel Laureate
Fatoumata Fadiga ’24 is one of only ten students from around the world who has been selected for the 2022 Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship Program. Fadiga is majoring in Political Science with a minor in Global Black Studies.
As a Future Nobel Laureate scholar, Fadiga will have the opportunity to participate in and receive credit for an online project-based course, travel to Sweden for an international field study, and attend sessions at the 2022 Nobel Week Dialogue: a collaborative event that brings some of the world’s leading scientists, policy-makers, and thinkers together to explore scientific topics through a global lens.
Fadiga, who speaks several languages, including French, Soussou, Foula, Mandingo, and English, is also in Purchase College’s Global Scholars program.
Originally from the Bronx, Fadiga said she is passionate about cross-cultural education with an international focus because “I want to have the power to protect the planet when we have a safe and equal planet the world is a place worth living… Everywhere I hear the word Global I’m willing to be part of it, I am willing to use my voice, my action, my feeling, and especially my experience to make a change.”
