The Light of Days: The Untold Stories of Women Resistance Fighters in Hitler’s Ghetto
On March 8th, 2022 New York Times best selling author, Judy Batalion, joined the Purchase College Jewish Studies Program for a virtual lecture on her new book, The Light of Days: The Untold Stories of Women Resistance Fighters in Hitler’s Ghettos.
Batalion brought to light the extraordinary accomplishments of the brave Jewish women who became essential to a wide ranging resistance network that fought the Nazis. These women, whose stories had previously been little known, built life saving systems of underground bunkers, sustained thousands of Jewish people in safe hiding places, sabotaged German supply lines and assassinated Nazis. Batalion also discussed her inspiration for writing The Light of Days and gave attendees an inside look into her research process.
