Nina Schatell ’23 Receives Competitive Cody Renard Richard Scholarship

The scholarship recognizes behind-the-scenes theatre-makers of color.

Congratulations to Nina Schatell ’23, majoring in Theatre Design/Tech with a concentration in stage management, on earning a Cody Renard Richard Scholarship.

Schatell is one of ten students to receive the financial grant of $8,000. The program, a partnership between the Broadway Advocacy Coalition and Broadway stage manager Cody Renard Richard, is dedicated to honoring, uplifting, and supporting the next generation of Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) theatre-makers working behind the scenes.

In addition to the scholarship funds, students receive mentorship through five online seminars focusing on community building, leadership, and social justice, networking opportunities and an all-expenses paid trip to New York City to meet with mentors and experience Broadway and New York’s theater scene in person.
