Elena Bello ’08–’10 Featured in Pointe Magazine

Bello turns to veterinary care following a decade in professional dance.

Any dancer knows, a professional dancer’s career has a time limit. Pointe magazine featured Elena Bello ‘xx (dance) and others in a feature about dancers and their second acts following retirement from the profession.

During the time Bello was dancing professionally with the Richmond Ballet from 2010–2020, she developed a passion for caring for animals, moving from volunteering to studying to earning her veterinary technician certificate. She retired from dance in September when the demands of her school’s experiential learning requirements grew. With no regrets, she’s living her dream as a “ballerina vet.”
