Jen Schriever ’04 Wins Obie Award

This summer’s 2020 Obie Awards Ceremony presented Schriever with Sustained Excellence in Lighting Design honor.

Held virtually on July 14, the ceremony honored Schriever (theatre design/technology) personally with Sustained Excellence in Lighting Design, acknowledging her work on several productions this past season, such as Broadbend, Arkansas, Tumacho, and the award-winning A Strange Loop. A special citation award was also given to A Strange Loop’s creative team.

When presenting Schriever with her award, presenter Clint Ramos honored her for “her seemingly limitless ability to transport us across vast distances to new and sometimes impossible locations.”

This is not the first time Schriever was nominated for an award. In 2011, her lighting talent earned her a nomination for Russia’s Golden Mask Award for Lighting Design on a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg.

Schriever is also a lecturer in the theatre design/technology program.
