Remote and Online Library Instruction Services

As the campus continues with online and remote instruction for the Fall, the Library is here to help with your information literacy and research instruction needs.

Purchase College Library remains a dedicated partner in student and faculty success. Each year, we reach more than 4,000 learners, ranging from pre-college orientations through graduate students. Librarians are committed to continuing to meet students and faculty where you are and to fostering intellectual curiosity, creativity, and lifelong information literacy through our instruction program.

Although the Library will not be offering face-to-face instruction sessions at this time, librarians are available to provide online instructional support, in synchronous and asynchronous formats. Instruction librarians can adapt in-person research sessions to an online and remote learning environment in several ways.

  • Librarians can use Zoom to conduct a research session synchronously (at a scheduled date and time where the class watches together) or asynchronously (librarians can record a video to share on your course’s Moodle page that students can view anytime).
  • Librarians can use a variety of Moodle resources such as discussion forums and assignments to instruct students on research resources and strategies.
  • Librarians can create customized course guides for individual classes.
  • For more library instruction ideas, please see Library Instruction Options and tips for designing research assignments.

Please be in contact with your subject liaison regarding your instruction needs or complete the Library Instruction Request Form. We ask that you please request library instruction a minimum of two weeks before your desired date of integration to allow librarians adequate time to schedule and prepare. Please review the Library’s best practices for scheduling library instruction for more information.
