Paramount Picks Up Original Script by Mattson Tomlin ’12

The competition was apparently heated for his script, 2084.

A science fiction script by Mattson Tomlin ’12 (film) is described as a “spiritual sister” to George Orwell’s 1984 and has a similar feel to The Matrix and Inception.

The producer on board is Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced films such as Transformers and GI Joe for Paramount and was also involved in getting The Matrix produced.

2084 generated interest from filmmakers and talent who were eager to get involved before its pickup, a testament to Tomlin’s writing prowess,” writes the Hollywood Reporter.

Tomlin co-wrote The Batman, a Warner Bros. film that will star Zoe Kravitz and Robert Pattinson due to be released in 2022.

Tomlin has also been hired to write the pilot for an adaptation of the comic book Memetic and Rick Remender’s comic The Fear Agent as a series for Amazon. Seth Rogen is one of its executive producers.

He’s also working on the video game Mega Man, another project in development.

After graduating from Purchase, Tomlin attended the renowned writer/director program at the American Film Institute.
