Dance Magazine Names Hannah Garner ’15 One to Watch

Each year, Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch” list features a new cadre of dance world professionals on the brink of a breakthrough.

Purchase is extremely proud that yet another Conservatory of Dance alum, Hannah Garner ’15, made the list.

According to Dance Magazine, its list of “dancers, choreographers and companies that are on the verge of skyrocketing has a knack for illuminating where the dance world is headed.”

Award-winning choreographer and director and a lecturer in dance, Doug Varone ’78, remembers her well.

“Hannah Garner’s imagination as a young dance maker was off the charts when she was student at Purchase. It has been so exciting to watch her success in the field now and to witness her voice as an artist really take shape and be acknowledged,” he writes.

Garner was also one of the guest choreographers for the Purchase Dance Company Spring 2018 Concert and has returned on other occasions to present her work in informal showings.

Garner graduated summa cum laude earning a BFA in Performance/Composition and a minor in Arts Management. She has worked with Doug Varone & Dancers, Sue Bernhard Danceworks, Megan Williams Dance, Kathleen Helm & Dancers, and Rovaco Dance Company in addition to presenting work with her own company, 2nd Best Dance Company.
