Faculty Members Earn Grammy Nominations

Silas Brown and Amanda Gookin MM ’16 were recognized for their work as producer/engineer and performer.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Silas Brown, who earned one nomination as producer along with Paul Appleby, Natalia Katyukova, Harold Meltzer, in the category of Best Classical Compendium for his work on Meltzer: Songs and Structures.

Two recordings for which Brown was producer and engineer also earned nominations, including the Torke Sky Violin Concerto, Tessa Lark, Michael Torke, David Alan Miller, and musicians of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, in the category of Best Classical Instrumental Solo; also in the category of Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Bermel: Migration Series for Jazz Ensemble & Orchestra, Derek Bermel, David Alan Miller, musicians of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra.

And we congratulate Lecturer in Music Amanda Gookin MM ’16, for a nomination in the category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for Freedom & Faith by PUBLIQuartet—a group for which she was a co-founder.
