New Work by Keerati Jinakunwiphat ’16

Big Rings for Abraham.In.Motion to premiere at the Joyce Theater.

Keerati Jinakunwiphat ’16, currently a member of the Abraham.In.Motion (A.I.M.) dance company, is creating a new group work, Big Rings, for six of her fellow company members for their fall season at the Joyce Theater in October, as reported in Dance Magazine online.

Kyle Abraham ’00, founder and artistic director of A.I.M., has begun to invite choreographers to create work for the company. He had formerly choreographed all of the the company’s performances until recently.

Jinakunwiphat discovered her love of choreography while a senior at Purchase studying with Doug Varone ’78, who remains a mentor to this day.

The Purchase Dance Company presented the work 18 plus by Jinakunwiphat during its Spring 2018 Dance Festival. While a student at Purchase, she was a recipient of an Adopt-a-Dancer scholarship.

Abraham has long been a supporter of female choreographers, refusing to participate in mixed-bill dance programs if a female choreographer is not included, as reported by the New York Times.
