Second Annual PSC Bake Off

Professional Staff Council meeting is host to a bevy of delicious holiday treats while fostering a little healthy competition!

At the December 19th PSC Meeting staff members celebrated with the second annual Holiday Bake-Off organized by Faculty Assistant for the School of Humanities, Lizz Elvira. The theme was winter and holiday inspired treats.

The rules included that all items be homemade and that each contestant submit only one entry. A total of ten official entries were received in addition to some non-entries for judgement free snacking.

The menu consisted of a variety of cakes, cupcakes and cookies as well as an ornate gingerbread castle.

Once again, PSC members submitted votes for each of three categories: Taste, Presentation and Originality, and all entries were numbered but not named to ensure anonymity.

Winners in each of the three categories were:

  • Eileen DeGiuseppe for Taste with her Bourbon Apple Pie Cheesecake,
  • Rachel Kwapien (a two time Bake-Off winner!) and Tom Corcoran for Presentation with their Gingerbread Castle and Gingerbread Cakes entitled Six Degrees of Separation and
  • Odile Delgado-Lamarre for Originality with her Chocolate Cupcakes with Coconut Caramel Cream Cheese presented upon a snowy hillside complete with polar bears and a frozen lake and made of entirely edible ingredients.

All winners were awarded a gift of decorative kitchen towels, hot cocoa, and a Purchase College cup/mug.
