Welcome back!

We hope you had a restorative winter break. As we kick off the Spring semester, the Library would like to share the following updates and reminders.

New at the Library in 2019

  • We are delighted to introduce our new Student Success Librarian, Nicole Helregel, who joined Purchase College Library this January from UC-Irvine Libraries, where she was a Research Librarian for Science Teaching & Learning. Nicole is the new subject liaison librarian for Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Studies, History, and Liberal Studies. As Student Success Librarian, she will also work closely with a variety of student success services and departments to conduct library outreach. Please join us in welcoming Nicole!
  • The Tech Assistance Desk was a huge success last semester, so we will continue to offer technology help at a convenient outpost at the reference desk on the first floor (right next to the librarian). The Tech Desk is staffed by professional staff and student workers who can help you use and troubleshoot Library technology. See Tech Desk Hours.

Ongoing Library Reminders

Reserves:

Many of your required textbooks are on Course Reserve at the Library! To see if your book is there, check the Library Reserves block in your course Moodle or search the Library Catalog for the title. Write down the entire call number starting with “Reserves—Circulation Desk” and bring it to the Circulation Desk to check it out. Faculty, there’s still time to place reserves requests via Moodle.

Student Projects:

Working on your senior project, capstone, or masters’ thesis? All the answers you need are found on our Student Projects Guide.(And of course you can always stop by the Reference Desk for research help!)

Study Zones:

Just a reminder that the Library is divided into three study zones: silent, quiet, and group. Please help us keep the Library a calm, quiet environment for everyone by respecting the zones and each other. If someone is being too noisy, let us know by texting 914-873-1711 or you can be proactive and hand out an Own Your Zone reminder card. Cards are located at the Reference and Circulation desks and in the main stacks. Find your zone on this handy map.
