Diverse & Inclusive: Creating Digital Collections for All

The Digital Collections Center regularly creates instructive, open access online exhibits that represent Purchase’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Purchase College is committed to celebrating international, cultural, sexual, racial, and identity diversity, and seeks to create a safe, inclusive environment for all affiliated with the College. In this vein, the Digital Collections Center (DCC) focuses on creating digital exhibitions that are derived from Purchase College archives, special collections maintained by the Library, and timely national and global topics.

The DCC mounted a Pride month exhibition in 2016, as well as one for National Hispanic Heritage month. In 2017, the DCC has developed exhibits that focus on Black History Month and Women’s History month.  This June, we’re once again highlighting LGBTQIA Pride , which is celebrated globally. To honor this Civil Rights movement and to open a broader discussion on LGBTQIA history, the DCC has created a digital exhibition that outlines relative leaders, activist movements, recent legislation, and a brand new section on LGBTQIA artists.

We hope you enjoy our diverse and inclusive exhibitions throughout the year, as new collections are added and as existing collections are updated.  Please check out our newest additions to the LGBTQIA Pride Month Exhibition and feel free to get in touch about our work through lib.digital.collections@purchase.edu
