A core value and driver of operations
SUNY Purchase and its Dining Services recognize the detrimental environmental and social implications from industrial food production. As per the College’s strategic plan, Purchase Dining Services takes action in local sourcing, food recovery, eco-friendly material use, food waste mitigation, building fair and resilient food systems, and community education around eco-minded practices. Starbucks, Einstein’s, the Hub, and the Market are Level 1 Green Restaurant Certified.
Purchase Dining Services has made remarkable impacts and measurable strides in compliance with both New York State’s Executive Order 22 and Executive Order 32. These current steps reinforce the College’s consistent capability of future impacts.
Purchase Dining Services offers discounts at Einstein’s, The Hub, and Starbucks when patrons bring their own reusable cup.
Einstein’s and The Hub offer a 5% discount off your drink while Starbucks offers a 10ยข discount.
EcoAward Recipient 2025
SUNY Purchase received the 2025 EcoAward from the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities for remarkable efforts in reducing plastic use and waste in compliance with Executive Order 22. SUNY Purchase’s chapter of Food Recovery Network (FRN) partners with Purchase Dining Services to coordinate safely capturing leftover food from on-campus events and redistributing it to the communal FRN fridge for anyone to enjoy.
