What is your motivation to succeed?
When I have everything planned out, I’m able to focus on what I need to do and what I still want to figure out. I also remind myself not to be too hard on myself—I can find a balance between being responsible and still having a good time.
Tell us something most people don’t know about you.
What most people don’t know about me is that I’m actually pretty adventurous. Even though I don’t go out that often, I like to explore new places and try things I haven’t experienced before.
What are your long-term goals?
My long-term goals are to become an actress and be part of a dance company. In the near future, I want to explore different countries and states.
What does EOP/MAP mean to you?
They’ve been really helpful since day one, and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without them. My advisor, Jane King, is one of the kindest, most generous, and helpful people I’ve ever met. She’s supported me with both my classes and my finances, and she’s also really easy to talk to. Every time we meet, we check in about how we’re doing and end up having meaningful conversations. Now that I’m graduating, she’s been helping me find internships related to what I want to pursue after Purchase, like film and theater.
What’s your most invaluable experience at Purchase?
I’ve had a lot of great experiences at Purchase, especially in the Stood. One of my favorite experiences there was Afro Weekend because there were so many talented performers who did an amazing job. I also really appreciated that the original founder of Afrodisiac came to speak about what it’s all about—creating a safe space for people of color to express their creativity.
