Jai Perez ’23

Jai Perez ’23 is a member of the Martha Graham Dance Company.

Perez appears in the 2026 PBS documentary Martha Graham Dance Company: We Are Our Time, made in celebration of the company’s 100th anniversary.

Originally from Harlem, NY, he began his dance journey at the National Dance Institute, where he cultivated a love of movement, and continued his training at the Ailey School before attending Purchase.

He has performed works by Hofesh Schechter, Jamar Roberts, and Ronald K. Brown.

Perez previously performed with Buglisi Dance Theater and A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham, both companies founded by Purchase alumni (Terese Capucilli ’78 is a co-founder of Buglisi, and Kyle Abraham ’00 founded A.I.M.).

Perez is part of A.I.M.’s “Dear Lord, Make Me Beautiful,” an evening-length production that premiered at the Park Avenue Armory on December 3, 2024.
