Tyaela Nieves

Tyaela Nieves, a Brooklyn-based filmmaker and educator, graduated from NYU Tisch in 2019. Her debut short film, “Limón Agrio” (2021), garnered acclaim from the Best Shorts Competition and the Latino Film Market. Currently, she delves into her latest project “Lola Mama Nanay,” exploring intricate themes of grief, love, and culture. Rooted in her Afro-Latinx heritage and queer identity, Tyaela is passionate about amplifying the narratives of underrepresented voices, both on screen and in the classroom. She finds immense joy in teaching young actors, guiding them to discover their artistic voices and empowering them to bring authenticity and depth to their performances.
