Deborah Symons Roldan

Lecturer of Spanish

Prof. Deborah K. Symons Roldán a native of Barcelona, Spain, holds a Postgraduate Degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in Spanish and English Translation, and a Masters in Spanish Linguistics from New Mexico State University. She has worked as a Lecturer of Spanish language, writing, history and culture at various universities and colleges in the region since 2001.

She was a lector for the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Yale University for four years, and is now a tenure track full-time professor of Spanish at SUNY WCC as well as an adjunct professor at Pace University and Purchase College.

Prof. Symons Roldán has taught Beginners Spanish, Intermediate Spanish, Advanced Grammar, Spanish Translation, Spanish Linguistics for Teachers, Spanish Creative Writing, and History of Spain and Latin America.

She is a certified online instructor with a Certificate in Instructional Design Systems through the Digital Learning Faculty Certificate Program (DLFCP) at Sacred Heart University.

Prof. Symons is also a writer who has written several novels and short stories. Her short stories have been published in academic magazines such as “Venta Abierta” a UC Santa Barbara, CA and “Azahares”, a literary magazine at the University of Arkansas.
