Cultural Folds teaches our society about cultural appropriation and how it causes harm and extreme disrespect to many people around the world. It is an ongoing issue that stems from racism, oppression and stereotypes. In order to create more of an awareness and educate people about this problem it needs to be addressed. These kinetic forms are a fun and interactive way to learn about the history of the cheongsam and braids. They teach us about important cultural fashions styles while also explaining the domino effect of cultural appropriation that follows behind. Stemming from this, you will also be able to help and learn more about what has been going on within the Asian and black and brown communities. Learn about how these beautiful treasures are being appropriated, and how they connect to the hate crimes and violence that so many of these people are facing today.
