For my Senior Project, I created an online space for Black, Latin, Designers (BLD.) The key aspect of my senior project was to create an inaugural online BLD symposium on Friday, May 12, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m, featuring designers of African and Latino descent to share a presentation containing their work, stories, and to participate in a panel at the end. The session featured the designers Shaylin Wallace, Diane Lindquist, and Katty Huertas. By establishing this space, I hope that it offered inspiration and knowledge to younger Black, Latin, Designers and affirmed them that there are careers available for designers like us and that our work is valuable. In the future, I hope to expand The BLD platform further by sharing the work of Black, Latin, Designers on social media, listing job opportunities, and featuring weekly affirmations.
