Purchase Experience

“Purchase really exposed me to a lot of different academic areas and helped me figure out the types of projects I really enjoyed doing. A big turning point for my work was discovering physical computing, which opened up my practice to make physical artworks that respond to an individual’s presence.

“I’m always a big lover of libraries and recall pulling tons of photography and design books off the shelves and spending hours flipping through them in the quiet study rooms. There was such a wealth of knowledge in those books that you really can’t find researching online.”

Advice to Current Students

“Build a wide knowledge base of skills but get really good at one thing. Think of it like the letter T. Pick the thing you love to do the most and really build up a specialty in it.”
