Scott Mason ’05, ’07

A native of Danbury, CT and first-generation American, Scott Mason graduated cum laude from the Purchase College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music in 2005 and a Master of Music in 2007, both in Studio Composition. In Spring 2020, he completed the Teacher Preparation Program at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT, obtaining certification to teach Elementary School along with endorsements in Music and Middle School Mathematics. He is now with the New Milford Public School District in New Milford, CT where he works as a Math Interventionist for Grade 7.

A major lesson Scott learned while at Purchase is guiding the next generation of young people in their academic and social growth and development is a form of service for greater society, in addition to a moral obligation. This led him to become a member of the Purchase College Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2018. He currently serves as co-chair of the Graduates of the Last Decade (G.O.L.D) committee and as co-chair of the Purchase Black Alumni Network. He is looking forward to continuing growing the alumni network and sharing his experiences with future alumni to help them on their post-Purchase journey.
