Jeffrey Putman ’96

Dr. Jeffrey Putman ’96 has served as a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors since 1997, serving as the Founding Corporate Secretary and two terms as President of the Alumni Association.

Dr. Putman is Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs at the State University of New York - Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In his role, he provides overall coordination of services for students and serves as the deputy Chief Academic Officer. In addition, he also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. He previously served as Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at SUNY Downstate. Prior to coming to Downstate, Dr. Putman served from 1996–2006 in multiple Student Affairs roles at Purchase College, SUNY, including as Interim Dean of Students and Assistant Dean for Student Affairs & Ombudsperson.

In addition to his role at Downstate, Dr. Putman serves in leadership roles as Regional Historian for Region II and as Senior Student Affairs Officer Liaison for the Information Technology Knowledge Community of NASPA: Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education; as Past-President of the Teachers College - Columbia University Alumni Council and Alumni Association; as Vice President of the SUNY Council of Chief Student Affairs Officers, as a member of the SUNY Chief Academic Officers Association; and has been appointed as a member of the State University of New York’s Food Insecurity Task Force, where he co-chairs the Student Life Committee.
