What does EOP/MAP mean to you?

MAP/EOP means to me the phrase, “The rose that grew from concrete.” As a MAP student I was brought to Purchase College because Paul, Mary, and Glorivee believed in me and I did not get into this college through regular admissions which means so much to me.

I am here today because of the MAP/EOP Organization, which advocated for me and I was offered an opportunity by this program to show that given the chance I too could go on to become a productive Purchase College student and succeed. I had a very slow start and with all the nurturing that the MAP/EOP Program gave me, I was allowed to blossom.

What’s your most invaluable experience at Purchase?

When I became a Senior Resident Assistant for the residence hall Big Haus. It was within that moment, I realized I came back full circle since I once lived in Big Haus as a freshman; now three years later I am being recognized as a leader in the same place I once would get lost in because I would forget how to get to my own room. That moment was so unreal to me and it is the defining moment that solidified my interest in the field of Student Affairs.
