Updates from the Digital Collections Center

The Digital Collections Center, found on the first floor of the Library, provides unique digital collections used for teaching and research. We digitize analog archives and curate born-digital materials that enhance coursework and student scholarship. We’re open to collaboration and happy to train Purchase affiliates in digital archiving and content management. If you have any questions, please get in touch: lib.digital.collections@purchase.edu.

Faculty & staff workshops are being held in February and March to help you digitally archive that research. You know the stuff, piling up in the corner? Unique to Purchase and highly useful to students and fellow researchers? We’d like to help with that. Join Digital Collections Curator Mēgan Oliver in the Library for a how-to session on the following dates (all sessions will be the same material):

  • Tuesday Feb. 21 @ 2PM in LIB 1004D
  • Thursday Feb. 23 @ 11AM in LIB 1004D
  • Friday Feb. 24 @ 11AM in LIB 1004C
  • Tuesday Mar. 7 @ 11AM in LIB 1004C
  • Thursday Mar. 9 @ 11AM in LIB 1004C

Digital exhibitions are a specialty at the DCC. We curate collections to celebrate inclusivity and diversity, and we dig into our archives to digitize one-of-a-kind ephemera. Our exhibitions are always available at http://sunypurchaselibrary.omeka.net/exhibits/show/bhm/bhmi.
