Seniors Present Research at Statewide Conference

Congratulations to two seniors in political science who presented their research at the SUNY Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC) 2025 at Binghamton University.


Alina Stepanov ’25 presented her research paper, “La Petite Bonhomme: Islam in Political Cartoons,” and Tristan Negri ’25 presented his research paper, “Fashioning Ideology: Visualizing Resistance Through Dress.”

Stepanov double-majored in Political Science and English and Global Literatures, with a minor in Environmental Studies. She earned both the Outstanding Junior and Outstanding Senior awards in Political Science.

Negri double-majored in Political Science and Law and Justice Studies, with a minor in Music.

SURC brings together undergraduate students and faculty mentors from across the SUNY system for a full day of activities, including sessions devoted to student presentations (oral, performance, artistic displays, and poster), luncheon, keynote speakers, a SUNY Graduate School and Career Fair, and professional development workshops for students and faculty.
