Halloween Edition of CINEMAROLL is now out

Editor Lauren Wren answers questions about the ‘zine edition of the student-run film journal

The newest issue of Cinemaroll has dropped, just in time for Halloween. We sat down with editor Lauren Wren to hear all about it.
What is Cinemaroll?
Cinemaroll is a student-run Cinema Studies journal where students from all majors can write about film.
What can we look forward to reading in the Halloween issue?
The Halloween issue features writings on all things spooky in film. We have writing on body horror, J-Horror, witches, and film reviews and pieces on some horror/thriller films!
This is Cinemaroll’s first PHYSICAL issue, why did you want to do this one as a ‘zine?
Zines offer a chance to get creative with design and writing, which I wanted to explore in a physical edition. Plus, anything physical, whether film or literature, is super cool.
What’s next for Cinemaroll?
We plan to do another issue this winter, though it will be digital. Next semester we are going to do another physical edition because we all had tons of fun creating the zine.
Are you looking for writers? What kinds of stories or ideas would you like to feature?
We’re always looking for writers! Cinemaroll is open to any kind of submissions about film, but I’d love to publish some excerpts from student-written scripts in the future!
How can people submit?
You can send a submission to Cinemaroll by emailing sunypurchasecinemaroll@gmail.com.
