Philosophy Alumni Write About The Gig Academy

Tom DePaola ’10, who double majored in literature, and Daniel T. Scott ’11 co-author a book on neoliberalistic policies in university employment.

Adrianna Kezar, professor of higher education at the University of Southern California, with De Paola and Scott as graduate assistants, together wrote The Gig Academy: Mapping Labor in the Neoliberal University, which critiques the shift from tenure-track professors to non-tenure track instructors who now make up 70 percent of college faculty.

The Gig Academy was published by Johns Hopkins University Press.
