On September 8 2019 at 08:25 am, Officers Genaro Gonzalez and Michael Boyd were dispatched to respond to a report of a medical emergency regarding an unconscious male on the roadway at the north entrance. Officer Gonzalez was the first on the scene. Once there, he found a 60 year old male lying in a supine position, who appeared to be in respiratory distress and in need of immediate medical attention.

Officer Gonzalez evaluated the victim and immediately began life saving measures. Police Officer Boyd arrived moments later and assisted with CPR and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Lieutenant Ludden arrived on scene and assisted with CPR and the AED as well.

A Harrison EMS Ambulance responded to the scene and transported the patient to the hospital along with Lt. Ludden who assisted the EMS crew during the transport to the emergency room.

The patient was stabilized at the hospital. In the days that followed, the family of the patient expressed their gratitude for the officer’s efforts and noted that the patient is expected to make a full recovery.

Please join me in congratulating these officers. Their actions directly contributed to the survival of the patient. They are a credit to the New York State University Police and to the Purchase College community.
