Composition Faculty Sends Opera to the Schools
Houston Grand Opera takes Kamala Sankaram’s new opera on an outreach tour of 80-100 performances.
Houston Grand Opera’s Enter Opera to Go! program presented the world premiere of “Monkey and Francine in the City of Tigers” by Kamala Sankaram and David Johnson.
This 40-minute opera has multi-cultural influences including Bollywood and traditional Chinese dance and tells a story of learning to appreciate each character’s unique talents.
The students at St. Rose of Lima School loved the performance, applauding enthusiastically and asking lots of questions during the audience Q&A.
