Jon Faddis uses social media to bring jazz to youth
Professor Jon Faddis broadcast live from Louis Armstrong’s house
Purchase Jazz Professor, Jon Faddis, is using social media to reach out to the younger generation. He recently used Facebook Live to broadcast from Louis Armstrong’s home in Corona, Queens in partnership with the 92nd Street Y’s program, Jazz in July.
“Our audience has dwindled over the years,” Faddis remarked. “It’s great to reach out to youth…Once young people get connected with this music, they end up loving it, and that was something Louis Armstrong was always doing here in the neighborhood. He was reaching out to young people.”
