This Spring I had the opportunity to intern for Westchester County GIS at White Plains. Pre-pandemic I worked on mobile data collection for street light mappings. The purpose of the street light data collection was to provide the municipality of Tarrytown with utility data for its better management and maintenance. Mobile data collection for the trail mappings of Edith Read were in the works as well but postponed once quarantine begun. Thereafter, my work shifted towards data manipulation. The bulk of my work focused on the review and update of feature layers for infrastructure in Westchester county. I learned how to manage new geospatial applications and manipulated the data out of which it is built upon. The best part of this internship was being able to apply what I learned through coursework while enhancing my skill set through intern work.
