Filtration plant operator internship. by Dakota Crowley

December 13, 2019

As Leonardo Di Vinci said “Water is the driving force of nature” which is one of the many reasons why the quality of water is so important, we are particularly picky about the water we consume which is why facilities for purification exist. A lot of science and behind the scenes work is involved in ensuring what comes out of the tap at home is not only safe for consumption but meets customer expectation of what water should taste, smell and look like. Lab work consists of test of multiple parameters consisting of testing for pH, Cl2 and Fluoride throughout the cycle at various points including the influent raw water pH, filter water Cl2, clear well influent and finished water for pH, Cl2 and Fluoride along with UVs of water in the open basin and finished water Chlorite levels. UVs are tested at the Raw coming into the plant and at the Influent and effluent sides of the open basin to ensure dissolved solids are reducing throughout the basin.
