About the Program
Students in Purchase College’s Pre-Medical Studies program are awarded a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate upon completion of courses required in order to prepare for the application process to medical and health-related professional programs, and additionally to prepare for related entrance examinations.
Students who enroll in the Pre-Med program can come from any major, including the social sciences, humanities, and the arts. If students have already completed some relevant coursework in their undergraduate career, they are restricted to non-duplicative courses required by prospective medical schools. (Note: Prior learning credit cannot be applied to this certificate program, and courses applicable to the Certificate that have been previously taken by a student prior to admission into this program cannot be used to satisfy program requirements.) The Pre-Medical Studies program can be completed on a part-time basis within two semesters, but students may proceed at their own pace. Students receive an individualized program of study after consultation with the college’s Pre-Medical Faculty Advisory Committee.
