Journal of Ecology
The Purchase College Journal of Ecology is a series of papers published by the undergraduates at Purchase College.
The fall 2025 class of General Ecology worked together to plan, generate hypotheses, and collect data for all of the projects.
This year, there were four major research projects that the class worked on:
- Comparing native maple and non-native maple tree phenology in the fall
- Assessing invertebrate biodiversity among habitat types of campus, including meadow, lawn, and knotweed
- Documenting pollinator use of flowers in the native plant garden to see which flowers and pollinators are most selective
- Understanding whether Spotted Lanternflies have a preference for certain tree species or habitats (developed or forest)
Then students worked in groups to analyze data and present scientific posters and then each student wrote their own final project. The best final projects are included here in the Purchase College Journal of Ecology.
