Ecology poster session 2025: stress, science, and smiles
The students in Dr. Jackson’s Ecology class highlighted their research projects at the Annual Ecology Poster session on November 14, 2025.
Students in Fall 2025’s General Ecology class worked really hard this semester to develop and gather data for a variety of real research projects on campus. This is real science. It can be messy and we don’t know what answers we might find, but that also makes it the most fun. Students must really understand the inner workings of their projects to be able to analyze the data and communicate their findings eventually in the Purchase College Journal of Ecology.
Their mid semester progress was highlighted in a poster session for the campus community, where students could practice their public speaking and science communication. Presenting to the public really helps students better understand their science and create better final papers. This year we had 6 different posters and many wonderful visitors, who asked great questions.
This poster session is exactly what students will experience at regional and national conferences throughout their scientific careers, and it’s important that they get this experience early on.
We are only able to do such high impact work like these research projects and poster sessions because of donor support of the ENV department. Please consider giving a gift to keep this tradition alive.
